Pride Fort Lauderdale Community Grants

Pride Fort Lauderdale Awards $15,000 in Grants

Pride Fort Lauderdale presented $15,000 in Community and Trans Pride Grants to 15 South Florida organizations at an awards reception on Wednesday June 6 at Hunters Nightclub in Wilton Manors.

More than 30 organizations applied for the $1,000 grants, funded from proceeds of Pride Fort Lauderdale’s 2018 festival, “The Love Pride,” held on Fort Lauderdale Beach on Valentine’s weekend. Each of the recipients is a 501(c)3 charitable organization that offers outreach or services to the local LGBTQ community. Twelve were first-time recipients.

Five of the 15 grants were earmarked specifically for projects within the transgender community and were funded from sponsorships and beverage sales at the first South Florida Trans Pride celebration, held in conjunction with Pride Fort Lauderdale. The grants will fund projects ranging from HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention, health care, legal services and food insecurity to education, arts and culture and youth.
